What to expect from the air force?

I'm 21 and planning on joining the airforce I would have done coming out of high school but my dad talked me out of it and not necessarily because he made me believe it was a bad idea but just because I use to be terrified of my dad but it's something I've always wanted to do. What I want to do is security forces which is like the armys MP if I'm not mistaken. I just would like to know what to expect like how long I would be in basic training, what kind of training to expect for SF, and if possible after all the training if I would be able to request to be put at nellis airforce base in las vegas which is where I'm from.
