What do you think of my story so far?

It sounds interesting. Research is definitely something you should do. When my school does a lock down drill, the teachers always say to get into any classroom immediately, even if it is not your own. They don't try to move students into harms way. However, this does not sound like a book I would read. It sounds too "Teenage Girl". No offense.
