How do i get rid of this weird avira error message?

I think my computer has a virus so I started my computer in safe mode. When I started my avira security center, the guard is not on and when I click to update it, a weird error message sign appears, it looks like a bunch of squares, which is why I dont know what the error is and how to fix it. everytime that I start my computer in regular mode, my icons and taskbar doesnt show up. I cannot do anything besides ctl_alt_delete. Help me please someone..i would appreciate it. thankss.
