I have windows 7 and i got 2 failed updates is it okay to redownload them and reinstall from microsoft.com?

my windows 7 was doing updates and security updates and it failed to install "Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB973688)" and "Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB954430)" is it okay if i go to the microsoft website find those 2 updates and install them? or does windows normally try to reinstall something that failed because i did this yesterday and it still hasnt tryed to redownload them and reinstall them, please advise thank you...
