I got caught up in the drama but..Is he just way too pathetic?

Relax. I think you should stop being "friends" with those girls. Friends would not play these games. Trust me is not worth be around these people you will end up being hurt with some psychological trauma or something. Anyway, the guy you like you should not be angry at him. You guys do not know each other well enough for you to have strong expectations from him. He does not know you well and it is not his fault if he gets caught up with what others tell him. I am sure if you explain him your actions and the things that are going on in your life he will be understanding of it because he really seemed interested in you in the beginning. The relationship can further grow if you guys began to built a trust and understand that others are trying to break you up. Good luck.
