Ipod touch won't go out of recovery mode/error 6 won't go away?

Earlier today I picked up my ipod and wanted to listen to some music, but all of the music was gone from it all of a sudden. I didn't do anything unusual to it beforehand, nor did I plug it into someone else's computer or anything like that. When I plugged it into my computer to try and re-sync all of my music back, it didn't work and somehow went into recovery mode. I've been trying to just restore it since there isn't much of value in there, but 'error 6' won't go away. I have updated my security programs and disabled my firewall, but it simply won't work no matter what I do. I've tried several programs that try to break recovery loops, but they won't work either.
