Why the heck do I have to meet up with him if we already broke up?

So me and my bf broke up two weeks ago, but he wanted to meet up to end things 'officially' whatever that means. So I agreed but to meeting this thursday (but this was about 2 weeks ago) Obviously during the span of the two weeks we havn't talked to each other whatsoever. Things have already ended so I REALLY don't understand why I have to go through the trouble of meeting him on Thursday? There's really nothing more left to say or do. I know it'll seem cowardly not to meet up, but I don't see any point in doing so. He texted me today saying 'So tomorrow after 3?' but i havnt replied. What do I do?
